A targeted solution for children who fail to respond to other literacy interventions
Despite everyone's best efforts, some children cannot remember letters and their sounds, let alone read.

We call this failure to start.
Read3 was created for these children.

The Tier 1 classroom phonics program can be overwhelming.
To ensure success we need to screen then differentiate their literacy program right from the start.

The Read3 program offers individualised support for struggling readers
Designed for struggling school age children, Read3 systematically builds 3 foundational skills essential for reading development. Our evidence-based strategies support the latest recommendations from Tufts, MIT and Harvard Universities. We offer individualised learning based on a child's specific processing weaknesses.
An integrated approach to learning
YOUR DAYS OF COBBLING TOGETHER RESOURCES ARE OVER!

Instead of attempting to integrate a phonemic awareness program with different phonics and fluency programs, Read3 provides an integrated solution for struggling readers.

Explicit, systematic and cumulative instruction in key foundational skills is vital for student success.  This Australian program builds all three foundational literacy skills.
PHONEMIC AWARENESS
hearing and manipulating sounds in words
ORTHOGRAPHIC SKILLS
mapping sound patterns to letter patterns
AUTOMATIC RECALL
efficient word recognition and reading fluency
Learning is integrated within the program as each step includes hearing, saying, reading, spelling, writing and automating.  The range of fun, multi-sensory games motivates children to persist when reading and writing is tough.

Why structured literacy is vital for struggling readers
Guided Reading and Balanced Literacy are common approaches to teaching reading that are ineffective for struggling readers because they do not focus explicitly on the decoding skills needed for children at-risk of dyslexia.

A structured literacy approach that teaches reading in an explicit and systematic manner not only helps children with dyslexia, it is more effective for all beginner readers.
(International Dyslexia Association Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading, 2018)

Why a dedicated Tier 3 program is needed in your school
When it comes to intervention for our most vulnerable young readers, quality phonics offered in small groups may simply not be enough. We must specifically target all identified literacy weaknesses.

Our evidence-based strategies uniquely support all processing difficulties struggling readers face as recommended by reading scientists from Tufts, MIT and Harvard Universities. These include:

  • poor phonemic awareness;
  • poor letter-sound knowledge;
  • poor working memory;
  • poor rapid automatic naming.
By screening early then targeting all four weaknesses, every learner, regardless of their strengths and weaknesses, will be able to make gains in early literacy.

A new program based on neuro-scientific reading research that has been tested in a literacy clinic
The Read3 intervention strategies are derived from 20 years of neuro-scientific reading research, practically applied and trialled by an experienced speech pathologist in a clinical setting with children with severe reading disorders.

These evidence-based strategies have been pulled together by communications specialist, and parent of a child with dyslexia, to create a simple 3-step daily routine.

Accessed online, and fully downloadable, Read3 is committed to supporting every child and providing equal access for children in regional areas.

Latest research confirms at-risk readers can be identified from 5 years

Screen early and intervene with targeted strategies as soon as possible.
Intervention carried out prior to 9 years of age has the greatest impact.

Read3 Scope and Sequence
Read3 is an explicit, systematic and cumulative intervention that integrates phonological awareness, phonics and fluency. We introduce content in a specific evidence-based order and monitor daily to ensure mastery at each step.

The Read3 Scope and Sequence was designed specifically to support children with rapid automatic naming deficits. Module 2 builds awareness of long vowel sounds and build fluency of foundational skills before moving to consonant 'blends' in Module 3.
Learn more about the Scope and Sequence
At the completion of Module 3, students will have established a system for decoding words accurately and fluently. Foundational skills are now in place. Students must continue to apply Read3 strategies to their school-based phonics program when learning the remaining three syllable types of the English code.

GET YOUR TEAM UP TO SPEED QUICKLY!

Read3 uses short, targeted videos to teach you key concepts. We also provide scripted lessons to support you as you teach these concepts to your student. As familiarity with the program grows, you will feel confident ‘tweaking’ the scripts based on your own team's expertise and the personality of the student.

For accelerated gains, struggling readers require intensive practice. We recommend 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week. If school-based intervention is limited to 3-4 sessions, please encourage families to complete extra practice sessions at home to ensure weekly targets are met. The more practice the better!

The following is a list of benefits of Read3 for educators.
REDUCE LOAD ON LEARNING SUPPORT
Easily transfer a student from one teacher, teacher aide or parent helper to the next and maintain continuity with progress and daily monitoring.
MULTISENSORY GAMES-BASED LEARNING
Reduces stress and maximises engagement. Suitable for individual or carefuly matched small group intervention.

WHAT PROFESSIONALS ARE SAYING
BESS
Learning Support Teacher
We are still having a wonderful time with Read3. One of my favourite parts are your instructional videos. Such a great way for my teacher aides and I to remain on the same page and I learn something each time I watch them. The girls are really enjoying the different games and the 3 part routine.
JULIE
Learning Support Teacher
The Read3 program is very clear and easy to follow. My Teacher Aide feels confident using it, and we can see the results already. We absolutely love the videos.
LAUREN
Speech Pathologist
I am delighted with the results I am seeing with the Read3 program. As well as being systematic in its approach, the simple daily routine means more practise is happening at home. This of course helps accelerate progress which is what it's all about. I would highly recommend Read3 for anyone working in literacy.
